How to ask for what you want without turning it into a meeting.

The best asks are short, warm and a little bit brave. ‘I’ve been thinking about…’ is a better opening than any rehearsed speech.
Timing matters. Ask when there’s room for a real answer, not in the doorway on the way to work.
And make it easy to say no. A request that can’t be refused isn’t a request. It’s pressure, and pressure kills the mood faster than anything.
